Every cochlea is different. And with OTOPLAN surgical software, your surgeon can find out what your cochlea looks like to help them pick the cochlear implant electrode array best suited to your unique cochlea.

These robot-assisted precision tools were developed to preserve the delicate structures in the inner ear. What does that mean for you? Precision surgery contributes to more gentle surgery. It can increase the chance that you can keep your residual hearing, which is linked to better hearing results and the ability to benefit from future technology.[ft] [ft] Available in selected clinics.
MAESTRO & ABF
Once your cochlear implant system has been activated, your audiologist will “fit” your device, matching each electrode contact to the correct place in your cochlea. With innovative MAESTRO software from MED-EL, they can do an anatomy-based fitting (ABF), which can give you the closest to natural hearing of any cochlear implant manufacturer.
Audio Processors
The audio processor is the visible part of your cochlear implant system that you can see. You can choose the style that fits your life best and customise it to suit your unique style. And with a variety of connectivity options, you can take advantage of the many ways to hear the world around you.

Whether you choose the SONNET 3 behind-the-ear processor or the RONDO 3 single-unit processor, you will be getting superior hearing performance. MED-EL cochlear implants are backwards compatible. That means that whenever there is a new audio processor, you can benefit from its updated technology without having to get reimplanted.

FAQs
To implant a CI, the surgical procedure is straightforward and usually lasts between 1–2 hours under either general or local anaesthesia. Recipients are usually back on their feet the next day. Your hospital stay may last one or more days, depending on your individual needs and what’s typical in your area.
Rehabilitation is the process of actively learning to hear with an implant. MED-EL can provide a closer match to nature right from the beginning, but routinely practising hearing skills can help provide even faster and better improvement in hearing abilities.
