Haló and Welcome From MED-EL

MED-EL works closely with many clinics to give cochlear implant recipients their best hearing. With a variety of options to choose from, it may be difficult to know which cochlear implant brand to choose. Aren’t all cochlear implants basically the same? The short answer is no. Read on to find out what sets MED-EL apart.

Why Choose MED-EL

The MED-EL Philosophy: Closest to Natural Hearing

Our cochlear implants can help you achieve your best hearing and hear sounds as nature intended. They do this by having a design that follows nature, stimulating the right pitch at the right place in your cochlea, and preserving hearing structures for a future of hearing.

This philosophy makes it possible for MED-EL cochlear implant recipients to achieve closest to natural hearing.

FAQs

To implant a CI, the surgical procedure is straightforward and usually lasts between 1–2 hours under either general or local anaesthesia. Recipients are usually back on their feet the next day. Your hospital stay may last one or more days, depending on your individual needs and what’s typical in your area.

Rehabilitation is the process of actively learning to hear with an implant. MED-EL can provide a closer match to nature right from the beginning, but routinely practising hearing skills can help provide even faster and better improvement in hearing abilities.

MED-EL leads in cochlear implant reliability. From cochlear implant and audio processor reliability to electrode design, safe stimulation, and MRI safety, MED-EL cochlear implants are reliable by design.
